Meanwhile, in the moment

Posted By on May 27, 2011

Couple of days ago, a friend of mine said she was living “in the moment,” which I thought was pretty cool. I asked her what that meant, and she basically said that the past was meaningless & the future is unknown, so the only thing you can really rely on is this moment right here.

This echoes the basic idea of mindfulness (I think) in the Buddhist tradition and listening to the small still voice within in the mystical Christian tradition, if it IS possible to quiet the noise attending looking through the scrapbooks of our lives in the past or the flurry of hopes & dreams that shape our sense of the future.

Think I’ll give it a try. I’ll let you know how it goes…and let me know how it works for you.
